Happy All-Hallows-Even! (Happy Halloween!)
Welcome to our 'English nook' of culture, traditions and entertainment for the youngest and their parents. This week on our English courses we are informing the pupils about Halloween, holiday that is highly popular among children and adults from most of all the English-speaking countries. Originated from the Celtic festival of Samhain, together with the Christian holiday All Saints' Day, Halloween is observed on October 31, in the middle of autumn. The holiday is greatly connected with the history of medieval holy days, its customs and symbols, which take us back into world of magic, friendly spirits and amazing lands. This week we were following some of the traditions and games connected with Halloween: dressing up (wearing specially designed costumes)); attending costume-dressed party, trick-or-treating tours, apple bobbing that bring happiness for the next year or searching the way through the ghost maze on a paper.
Halloween was a great opportunity to familiarize our children with some of the celebrations and cultural traditions of this holiday. A little bit of fun and eduplace_idion shall definitely brighten our cold fall days. Look at the pictures...
